What is happening to the NBA? Are the players losing their competitive drives? Are the players just money hungry? These are all great questions, unfortunately paralleling the NBA right before the great white hope, Larry Bird, and his competitor, Erving Magic Johnson entered the NBA. But, that leads us all to ask, who is our next great white hope? Who is out next Magic Johnson?
I wish I could say that I see another player like that coming into the league, but it’s looking doubtful. After Kobe retires, unfortunately so soon from now, there will be no player with that kind of competitive determination in the league. Stephen Curry, the current face of the NBA lives and dies from the three point line, and almost never plays defense, as does one of the other NBA superstars, James Harden. The NBA is shifting back towards its flashy, finesse style of play, reducing its competitiveness. Hopefully, someone or something will enter the NBA and revert it back to its exciting roots.
