Art and Tech
During
Monday lab we always brainstorm ourselves and come up with some great creative
ideas. Some of them may take a lot to practice but it’s always good to have these
ideas. After all big work all starts with a small thought. Last year we did Monkey King. We started off with just an
ancient Chinese story and some leaps. We had some science students who made
those amazing program that added so much fun to our show. And we also rewrote
the story and made it contemporary and more western. The whole show is a
creation and I learned that technology sometime can work totally perfect in
performances. We ended up having a very cool show that combines different
culture and music and stuff. Speaking of technology in performance, I watched a
video of this musician called David Garrett playing Viva La Vida. David is a crossover violinist and recording artist.
In this video he plays different parts of the harmony and combines his multiple
images together. I like the way he uses color and his own image, and he also
uses slow motion at certain point. It’s a mixture of visual and music. I won’t
say it’s the best music video but I think it’s pretty cool and the music is
just beautiful.
