A Message from the other side

Lots of times, I feel like people assume Christians to be perfect people. and then when they aren't, they get mad and blame God for the failure of the Christians. Realistically though, Christians are just people too. They love, they feel, they desire - and they even hate. Often we think that the bible tells us to be perfect, and to not feel these emotions: the things of this world. But its quite the contrary. Being a Christian mean recognizing and accepting all of these flaws, and learning to live your life in spite of them. No one is perfect, ('cept Jesus) and because of his sacrifice on the cross, no one has to be either. All he asks is that in return for the sacrifice of His life (both while He was on earth in ministry and in His death), we (Christians) life a life that attempts to please Him.

The Bible even explains how to do this. In First John (towards the back) it says "Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him." And of course its not saying that everything in the world is bad. But the Bible also tells us in James that every good thing comes from God (regardless of where it might be, i.e. in the world) so as a result we can surmise that it's saying the things of the world are just bad things. (lust, anger, malice....you get the picture) So its really just saying don't love them. and that's not to say we aren't drawn to them, or desire them, since we all have a tendency to sin - but we also don't have to love them and put them before Christ. And that's what really defines us as Christians - sometimes we mess up. But its not about being perfect, it's about being loved.
