The Whitney
Museum of American Art is located in 99 Gansevoort Street in Manhattan. The
paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and films in the Whitney Museum are
mainly 20th and 21st century American art. The collection
is more than 21,000 pieces which were created by more than 3,000 artists.
The museum opens at 10:30am every
day except Tuesdays, which is the museum’s weekly closing day. The museum
closes at 6pm every day except Fridays and Saturdays, which closes at 10pm.
I went to the Whitney museum last Sunday.
The museum presented the Silent Eye, which was directed by Amiel
Courtine-Wilson featuring Min Tanaka and Cecil Talyor. The museum also
presented lots of pieces and posters about Cecil Taylor and his performance.
Moreover, I liked the prints of
Ethel Scull 36 Times which was created by Andy Warhol. The print was consisted
of 36 different pictures of women and I loved the coloring of the print. Another
thing I liked about the museum was its view. In every floor of the museum, you
could see a perfect view of Hudson River park pier 51 and Chelsea.
I totally recommend all of you going
to a museum and enjoying masterpieces of prominent artists on weekend.
