Grassroots and the internet

Protests like Occupy Wall Street, along with Bernie Sanders and his popularity, have started a huge grassroots movement in the United States. Grassroots refers to the insane notion that the people of the United States should have a say in our democracy. The internet has had a huge impact on this movement. For one, website such as reddit and Facebook have created such an easy medium to organize people together. Seriously, it’s as easy as subscribing to /r/grassrootsselect. Then, important notices and activism suggestions are brought to your front page. One click and people are informed about events. This power is fantastic because it provides people such an easy medium to organize this huge rallies, protests, and activism opportunities. Regardless on anyone’s views on a particular issue, it’s hard to argue that giving people this power is not extremely democratic.
