We discussed a lot about
culture influences in class. We live in a diversity world with so many
different cultures. And it also affects how different technology can apply for
different culture. I recently find this adorable comic on Twitter about the
things that Finnish are afraid of. I believe most of the people don’t know
about this because some of their cultures are surprisingly different. Finnish
requires a lot of personal space and they are not used to greet and talk to
people. Like Americans like to hug and at least smile at each other when two
people meet. In Finland, you can make people really uncomfortable by doing so.
People may even think you’re rude or impolite. They stand really far away from
people when they are waiting for bus and they avoid eye contact with each
other. It’s oddly cute somehow. They never sit next to each other on the bus if
there are other seats that are empty. It’s a culture thing and it’s very
interesting know how different the world is. When we talk about technology or
new stuff, it is always important to know if the product is universal.
