VR and PTSD

Along with the many uses of virtual reality it is also being used to treat war veterans who are suffering with PTSD. The first time VR was used to help treat PTSD was in 1997 when it simulated a Vietnam war zone. It is now being used to present the veterans with situations represent Iraq of Afghanistan. This allows doctors to see how their patients react to certain triggers and what can help to prevent panic episodes. it also allows the patient to learn certain mechanisms to help cope with their trauma.
