Blog Post 17

Are statistics good measures of performance? I’d say that they only account for half the game. Statistics have come a long way. They are good indicators of efficiency, impact, and effectiveness. From the sound of it, they must sound like they encompass the whole game. But, if this was true, why not become the Oakland Athletics and play money ball with your sports club. This is because there are other contributors for a team’s success.
The other half of the game, apart from statistics consists of perseverance, determination, hustle, and heart. These things can’t be put into numbers. Diving into the stands to grab a loose ball unsuccessfully, during the final minutes of a basketball game, can’t be put into numbers, but it can hype up a team to try harder to start a run and win a game.
