How Social Media Has Changed Food

Over the last couple of months I've realized the new trends that have been coming up. Through social media young people find out about many new, hip, food venues that are opening and stand in lines for hours just to get it. Places like this include the bagel store, where people stand in lines wrapping around blocks just to get a dyed bagel, the Black Tap, a restaurant that sells 15$ shakes that look like diabetes in a glass, where people also stand in line for 2 or more hours just to get one. These are only two examples, but there are so many more places like this opening up recently.
Up until a couple of days ago i thought people went to these places just to experience new and good food, however i realized that the first thing these people do after they get their food is take a picture, and post it on instagram or snapchat, among other social media sites. We have become so absorbed in these platforms that everything we even eat has to be shown off to the world, when really you are the only one who should be enjoying this food.
