Ex Machina really creeped me out. The whole aspect of artificial
intelligence is bizarre to me. It really is incredible how fast moving
technology is and how realistic these robots look. Caleb Smith, the protagonist,
really underestimates the capabilities and consciousness of Ava, the robot.
Caleb participates in the Turing test in order to determine the capabilities of
Ava. The scary thing is that Caleb starts to develop feelings for Ava, which is
insane because logically she isn’t real; she is a machine. The fact that robots
can pass Turing tests makes me very uncomfortable.
