The development of neuro-sensors is still mostly for professional use. One type of neuro-sensor, the EEG, is a device that has the ability to measure electrical activity of the user's brain. By wearing a cap the EEG can this data to allow for manipulation and use. The use of the EEG is shifting to more entertainment and being introduced to gaming. In this aspect it is even lesser known than the Oculus Rift and could be said to be at the infancy age in the realm of gaming. The EEG is being introduced to developers in hopes that games and other apps will be created and will push the development of the EEG to the next level.
In class Professor Baldwin showed us the EEG he has and the different projects he is involved in. The EEG worked and responded to changes in facial expression of Professor Baldwin and displayed this brain activity on the screen. His project's goal is to use these data and produce music corresponding to the brain activities. In class the demonstration showed that when Professor Baldwin changed this facial expression the speed of the random note being play will change. When more facial muscle were tense there is an increase in speed and when the facial muscles were more relaxed there is a decrease in speed.
The use of EEG is still in its infancy and as long as developers keep working new programs will come out and improve. One day playing a game with just your thoughts might not be impossible anymore. Like the Oculus Rift technology the EEG can be developed into games given time.
