VR Gaming
With the release of VR (Virtual Reality) equipment, such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, a whole new realm of gaming is introduced. Being a casual gamer myself, I am somewhat excited to experience VR gaming. However, I don't think it's possible. I believe that VR gaming is a luxury. There are two reasons why VR gaming is a luxury. The first and most important reason is the cost. The price of an Oculus Rift by itself (well, not by itself but with the add-ons) is about $600 and the price of a HTC Vive is about $800. That is extremely expensive to me because most of the latest consoles are about $300 for the console. I'm not sure if there is a price for the games on the VR equipment, but there's already a $300 difference, which is pretty hefty. Not only that, but to use the equipment, there has to be a computer with good specs, which can add to the cost. The second reason is because to fully utilize VR gaming, adequate space is needed. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive make use of motion sensors for VR and therefore the body needs to move to use it. However, space can sometimes be a luxury. For example, in our dorm rooms, I doubt there is enough space to move around enough to use the equipment. I once saw a video where this professional gaming team was playing with a HTC Vive and they had to dedicate an entire room for it and they actually went around walking in that entire room. Although with the release of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive allows for a new era of entertainment, it feels too much of a luxury and I won't purchase it.
