Pokemon GO

Being a fan of Pokemon since I was a little kid, I can't help but be excited to learn about Pokemon GO news. Pokemon GO is a mobile game created by the The Pokemon Company and when the trailer was revealed last year, many people were excited for a mobile Pokemon game. The main appeal of this game is the use of AR (Augmented Reality) and location services. In traditional Pokemon games, the player roams the region and capture and battle with Pokemon. This concept is brought to Pokemon GO as the player can battle and catch Pokemon depending on their current location. The game uses AR by using the phone's camera to take the image of the background and then displaying a 3D model on it to represent the Pokemon. I think Pokemon GO is amazing because it brings the feel of playing a Pokemon game, but brings it to real life. However, I think there are some problems. The major problem is battery usage. Using location services constantly can severely drain the battery, which is important for someone like me, who uses my phone a decent amount to play mobile games. Another is the roaming aspect. Although roaming is part of any Pokemon game, the game might display a Pokemon somewhere and when the player goes to that area, he/she lose connection to the Internet and then it was a wasted effort because the person can't capture or battle the Pokemon. Despite these faults, Pokemon GO has the potential to be great and will do well because of the popularity of Pokemon. Pokemon GO might cause more companies to create location-based games and maybe the next big game would be one.
