Children and Technology

I have two younger sisters, one in middle school and one in elementary school, and it hasn't been too long since i was their age, yet the way technology has affected children has changed drastically. I didn't get my first phone until i was 12 and that was a flip phone, just for the purpose of calling my mom while i was walking home from school alone. Now my 12 year old sister is talking about getting an iPhone, something i didn't get until recently. Also my youngest sister, at only 8 years old, knows how to use an iPad and computer better then my mom. As time goes on, more younger kids are getting computers and phones, objects that have no use in the hands of such a young person. These gadgets are restricting kids from their childhood and affecting the people they grow into. When there was no work to be done, kids my age and the kids before me would go outside and play with each other and have fun with just a piece of chalk, and now its sad to see that a child can't have fun without an electronic device.
