360 Videos

A few months ago I was introduced to a new type of video on Youtube. These videos called 360 videos are very interesting. The amazing thing about these videos is that you can see all around you. Now what do I means by that? Well on a smartphone when ever you view a video it is from the perspective that the video maker wants you to see, but what if you have to power to change that perspective? This is what the 360 video does. The video uses the motion sensors on your smartphone and allows you to rotate the phone and 'rotate' in the video. You can look up or down in the video and see what is happening up and down.
Now if you are like me you may be wondering how does a camera record all around. This is where a new type of camera comes in. The 360 camera which will record the surroundings and process these snippets to form a 360 video. If you look close in the video you may see seams that were not mended properly in this process. This type of video increases the amount of interaction with the user and brings about many ideas. Can I now explore a horror film and actually turn around to see a ghost? Can I create a tour using this video and allow users to see all of there surroundings?
The only thing deterring me from buying the camera is the cost. Price ranges from around 400 and up for these cameras. I am not someone who records often so this isn't as tempting to me but for Youtubers and other video makers the 360 camera will allow the views to be that much closer to the Youtubers. The 360 videos is catching on and I can't wait to experience watching a 360 degrees movie.
