Last class we learned about Sketchup. Sketchup is an application that one has to download on their computer to make three-dimensional models. We were told to download Sketchup Make rather than Sketchup Pro since that one costs a lot since it has much more functions. I believe Sketchup was formerly owned by Google and now it is owned by a company called Trimble Navigation. Online, if you search the Sketchup 3D Warehouse, you can find models that people have submitted for others to use to get started. In class, we were told to create a vehicle of some sort as well as a city. As someone who isn’t a technological person, it is difficult for me to figure out how to use it and make something. I think it’s a great gateway to three-dimensional modeling for newbies that aren’t “techy” and I am happy my professor enlightened our class with this program. He told our class that in the future, our world is going to be swamped by a “tsunami of 3D”. Meaning, in the future, three-dimensional things are going to run our world. So those who know 3D, will survive. This is why I’m happy that my professor has introduced us to a program that allows anyone to access the freedom of three-dimensional modeling.
