Today’s society lack a major key to emotional connection, empathy. When journalists try to describe a traumatic event to their readers/listeners, they do the best they can, but oftentimes, leave their readers ignorant of the significance of the event.
For example, some adamant critics of the current police brutality firmly stand by their beliefs supporting our state officers. However, by using a better tool to depict these events for such haters, they will have no other choice but to develop some empathy for these harassed individuals. Virtual reality seems to be the best tool to do this. By using certain computer generated images, police voice calls, and eye witness testimonies; journalists can vividly recreate the event and help immerse their viewers into the event, and therefore, help their viewers empathize.
