Graphics vs GamePlay

This is most common debate amongst gamers and reddit users. The issue is people think that better graphics is what determines whether a game is good. This is simply untrue. Just because a game looks good does not mean it is captivating, enticing, and exhilarating. Graphics are instead an add on that help achieve those qualities. Don't believe me? Super Smash Brawl, a video game that came out more than 10 years ago is played across college campuses today more than mortal combat or call of duty. The game is great. Even take into account Counter strike. Its the same game, the same maps and even the same guns. Not much changed but the game is still popular. The biggest counter example is Grand Theft Auto series. The graphics improved significantly between chapters and so did the fanbase. But I argue this is because its not graphics. Its the freedom that GTA incorporated in the game. A player can do virtually anything the game now.
