AlphaGo

AlphaGo is a computer program developed by Google DeepMind to play the board game Go. AlphaGo was made after chess AIs started beating top players. Because people insisted that Go is not a solvable the same way chess is despite the similarities in some of the characteristics of the games. AlphaGo was matched five times with 9-dan go master, Lee Se Dol. The score was 4:1, in favor of AlphaGo. This match is significant in the fact that it shows how computers are now able to rely on its own institution, which is something that was thought only humans can do.
