Today
in class we experimented using different forms of technology in class. My
professor handed out things such as the Leap, the Myo, and speakers to play
around with. The most interesting thing that he had given out was a glove that
had a wire that attached it to a computer which made the motions that we made
with our hand go along with music or videos. He had me and this other boy in
the class record ourselves reciting poems from a little book called Cold
Mountain. Apparently it was a book of Chinese poems that were translated into
English. After we recorded ourselves in black and white, we attached the glove
to the computer and had our movements from our hand stop and start the video
and play different segments of the videos. Then, he had me and the other boy
“act” as if we were in an argument and I was stopping and starting the video as
if to annoy him. It was an interesting concept, and also a way to link
technology to acting. While we were doing this, the other students In the class
were making beats with garage band and playing around with the Leap and the
Myo. My professor would call on people to look at the videos of the other guy
and I to see what their reactions were. They all seemed to think it was just as
interesting and innovative and creative. I really enjoyed this class because
everyone was just experimenting on their own and we got to shared our opinions.
